๐ท๏ธ Discount Calculator
A โ30% offโ sign tells you the discount, not the price you actually pay. Enter the original price and the discount to see the final sale price and exactly how much stays in your pocket.
Watch out for stacked discounts: two successive 20% discounts are not 40% off โ the second discount applies to the already-reduced price, giving 36% off in total.

Frequently asked questions
What does the discount calculator tell me?
It tells you how much money you save and the final sale price, turning a '30% off' sign into the concrete price you will actually pay.
How is the sale price worked out?
The saving equals the original price multiplied by the discount percentage, and the sale price is the original price minus that saving. A $200 item at 25% off saves $50 and costs $150.
What about stacked discounts?
Two successive 20% discounts are not 40% off. The second discount applies to the already-reduced price, so the combined saving is 36%: the item passes through two multiplications by 0.8.
Any tip for using sale prices?
Always compare the final sale price, not the discount percentage. A smaller percentage off a cheaper starting price can beat a bigger percentage off an inflated one.
